Arts and Crafts

- late 19th century and earlier 20th century movement in architecture and furnishing based on the revival of traditional crafts and the use of natural materials, usually English "vernacular" in character. Inspired by William Morris and John Ruskin, the movement attracted many notable designers, Philip Webb, who built the famous Red House for Morris, Norman Shaw, Voysey, Lutyens and in Scotland, Robert Lorrimer, Reginald Fairley, J J Stevenson, James Marjoribanks Maclaren.
