Cruck / Cruck Framed / Blade
- form of roof
construction in which the roof is carried on pairs of naturally
curved timbers (crucks) joined at the ridge and combining the functions of upright post and rafter
(full crucks) or embedded into the wallhead (upper crucks). Often involves very sophisticated
joinery.
Crucks are referred to as blades in some
parts of England.
