Indent
- in masonry,
the insertion of a new stone
to replace a decayed or damaged one. An indent
should always use stone sourced from the original quarry, or should achieve as close a match as
possible. A pre cast unit is not an indent, and should never be considered for one off situations
where, to achieve a good match, it will not be cost effective.

The term can also refer to a shape
taken from a stone to receive a brass ornament.
