Intumescent paint
- fire retardent paint. Until fairly recently, these were very
"porridgey" substances but now, intumescent
paints and varnishes are practically indistinguishable from normal paints, and depending on surface area and mass of
material, can guarantee up to 90 minutes fire resistance, on
cast iron
columns
timber
panelling etc.
