Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments, England,
Scotland and Wales - separate bodies for each country, founded 1908 and now including the
national monuments record, is responsible for compiling an inventory of the architectural and
historic monuments of that country. Is a legal consultee on all proposals to demolish
buildings, and one of the most valuable archive sources, particularly since merging with the
National Monuments Record.
