Sites of Special Scientific Interest
- sites throughout Britain representative of key habitats or
protecting special conservation interests. Site activity is restricted by a list of operations likely
to damage the site which are determined by Scottish Natural Heritage (previously the Nature
Conservancy Council). May lie within a designated garden or designed landscape.
