Tudor / Tudorbethon

- the period of the reign of the Tudor monarchs (1485 to 1603), and the styles of architecture and design which prevailed during that time, characterised by timber and plaster decoration and a growing awareness of the social status to be attached to grand architecture. (NB They did not reign in Scotland).
Tudorbethon, is being used to describe the 1930's mock-tudor style so beloved of suburban developers, and now in some areas, serious candidates for listing.
